to anyone with a blue collar
at the sandwich shop there is
a housewife with a life story
homes, offspring, mates, art classes
it sometimes ends in the crack house
or a lemonade stand
fascinated with today’s soundbites
which is why we listen to talk radio
a separate world exists around
whichever forty hour block of time
gets filled like accidental holes
and an uncomfortable gesture
by the road on a sign
