Alice B.

every year they recreate
a new grain or foliage
in promise of a picnic
in springtime, Paris
perhaps not the location
of necessity, complex sentences
hosting opportunity
backstabbers of mood and light
it was simpler for us
to walk a few blocks
platonically, in pairs
the guard would never recognize
so ten years later
an affair to remember

Found your blog randomly...really love your work. It was so hard to choose a poem to respond to. Emotive, visceral, and a little haunting, all. In Alice B., I especially love the lines, "Paris perhaps not the location of necessity" and "backstabbers of mood and light." Thank you.
