it takes more than your handyman’s house
to stop a heart at the stairs
then some elderly rastafarian smiler passes
a sought after woman laughs
at the edge of those bladed vigils
when at ten a.m. it is too early for crumping
up in here to call and respond
to a city that is its own nationality
this is not a farewell address
for the last direct question before
crazy weekends end in sober highway miles
with new names for the rodeo
