Running in to You

you are a cartoon character
playing british adaptations of beer pong
claiming the while malaysian ancestry
that surfaces in afrocentric lighting
the respect is worth a fiver & not enough
for this is a city of perfect solutions
on the way to his solitary tavern taking last meals
of the day he walks past ghosts of his present
making memory plays out of childhood
to the sound of the orchard machines pounding
a russian middle age in search of a novacaine
cold comfort for toil of twentysomethings
watching a winter of your turn
when you were so certain it was still summer
